CAMPING BARN INFORMATION

Welcome to Dacre's Stable (named after a Fell pony who lived on the farm). This small camping barn is about 7 miles north of Kendal, just East of the A6, on a quiet gated lane between farms.

Dacre's Stable from the lane.
Dacre's Stable is in the Lake District National Park and just south of the Eden valley. It is part of Grisedale Farm (OS map grid ref. 554 013). The postcode is LA8 9EN.

Here there is abundant wildlife (especially birds), fell walking, walking and cycling on quiet tracks and lanes and the Lakes and many tourist attractions are less than an hour's drive away.

There are many nature reserves in Cumbria and Kendal is a festival town, hosting many varied events.

There is no local bus service but it's only half an hour by car from mainline railway stations at Penrith (North) and Oxenholme Lake District (South).

Accommodation:
The Stable is a friendly, flexible space for individuals, families or groups. It comfortably sleeps from two to eight people. The big barn across from Dacre's Stable has an extra fridge, and can provide overflow play space for accompanied children in bad weather (not that we ever have any!?) and bikes can be stored there.

All the buildings here are non-smoking areas.

We are not normally able to accommodate unaccompanied groups of people under eighteen years old.

The Stable has two floors, with an outside staircase to the upper floor.

The ground floor, which is accessible for disabled people, sleeps two on sofa beds. It contains a wood burning stove and sitting area and large table, and a kitchen area with double hob, microwave, small oven and fridge. There is a door through to the wet room with underfloor heating, shower, sink and loo.  There is also a separate outside loo in the hayshed.  The ground floor is available to hire at a cheaper rate, without access to the upper floor.

The upper floor is one large space which sleeps 6 on bunk beds. There is a wood burning stove which is linked into the hot water system, as are the solar panels on the porch.

There is plenty of crockery, jugs, pots and pans etc. for eight people.

What to bring:
Pillows are provided but visitors are expected to bring their own towels, sleeping bags, warm bedding and pillow cases.
Please bring torches and some dry kindling wood.

Shopping / Eating out:
There are lots of pubs and restaurants within eight miles, but none nearer than six;  Morrisons, Sainsburys and Aldi are the nearest supermarkets, just north of Kendal.

Please note, it is really important that you shut the gates on the lane, as our neighbouring farmers depend on these for the security of their livestock.
For this reason, visiting dogs other than Guide dogs, are only allowed by special arrangement.

Prices (for up to eight people, inclusive of electricity and first basket of logs)
Sole use of the building. Ground floor only (sleeps 2+) £55. Ground floor plus upper bunk room £85. Min 2 nights stay. Reductions for longer stays & mid-week.
